With the 2017 Angelina County Youth Fair coming April 18-22 to the George H. Henderson Expo Center in Lufkin, the Huntington Business Owners Buyers Pool (HBOBP) is busy at work getting even more donors from last year to participate.
The Angelina County Youth Fair is an annual event allowing Angelina County students to present their projects for competition in divisons of livestock, arts and crafts, home economics, and ag mechanics. The event culminates with the Annual Youth Fair Auction, where students sell their projects to local businesses and supporters. And that is where the Huntington Buyers Pool comes in. Ideally, all local business and citizens are encourage to go to the sale and see firsthand our youth at work, but if you not able to attend, this is your opportunity to be involved by going through the Huntington Business Owers Buyer Pool.
Last year the Huntington Business Owners Association hosted a reception for participants and presented checks in the amount of $5,535.00 to every Huntington 4H or Huntington FFA individual who made a sale. All monies collected was given back to the kids.
Making this all possible for our kids were donations made by our local businesses and individuals. A very special “Thank You” goes to: Adam Nerren; Barbara/David Morton; Boots True Value; Bubba Loggins; Burrous Dozer Service; Carroway Funeral Home; Down Home Property; Dr. Biff Beard; Duren Trucking; Durrett Ready Mix; Everything Auto; Extreme Collision; Jamie Hopper; Jerry’s Tire Shop; K & G Trailer Sales; Keith Carrell Logging; Little Boots Grocery; Liza’s Garden; Maddux Building; My Trash Service; Sound Tech; Spivey Oil Co; Taco Casa; Tom Brown; Tom/Beverly Havard; Earth and Stone. TOTAL COLLECTED FROM AREA: $9,840.00. Animals purchased at Youth Fair: $5419.50 from Huntington Youth.
2017 is expected to even be better with your help! Donations are now being accepted for this worthy cause. You can give as small as $25 but most donations range from $100-$500. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and they are a tax deductible.
The Huntington Buyers Pool will then be used on the market animals, which includes steers, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry. The HBOBP encourages you to contribute even a small amount as they all add up. That is why this community is so special - when we work as a team, great things can happen in supporting our youth and recognizing their efforts.
Donations can be taken to Jerry’s Tire Shop located on Highway 69 or mailed to HBOA, P.O. Box 445, Huntington, TX 75949. Please make checks payable to HBOA with a notation stating that it is for the buyers pool.
