2017 Rally Around Our Heros

Broaddus, Texas - Sam Rayburn Lake – Wounded Heroes of Texas in partnership with Outdoor Freedom Network are pleased to host the 2017 Rally Round Our Heroes Memorial Honor Ride and Weekend Camp out at Jackson Hill Park and Marina. The event is scheduled for October 20-22 2017.

This is the Wounded Heroes of Texas sixth year for this annual event that will feature an Honor Ride through historic San Augustine County where patriot riders will hold a memorial service at the historic San Augustine County Courthouse square on Saturday morning. This year’s event will also include live music, vendors with great goods and great food. Saturday afternoon will include a Youth fishing tournament weigh in and a Vietnam Veterans Presentation and Pinning Ceremony Jackson Hill Marina. The public is invited to attend and Veterans are encouraged to be there with their whole family.

All Vietnam era Veterans are invited to participate in a very special commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Together WHOT and OFN support, manage and host Veterans programs that reach out to disabled Veterans, medical foster home Veterans, Veterans in trauma care and hospice to participate in outdoor activities as part of the VA hospitals recreational therapy programs. Programs also include other charitable groups who understand the healing power that the great outdoors can play in recovery and healing for Veterans and their families.

WHOT and OFN have no paid staff and 100% of profits go to the intended target audience. The event will also include the Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall on display along with the Texas Tags of Valor a display of all Texans Dog Tags who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on Terror. Many local American Legion and VFW posts will be in attendance and all are invited.

About San Augustine, Texas - San Augustine Texas is the cradle of Texas Independence. The first university, churches of all denominations, and the first American settlement in Texas. The abundant history in our area is evident in over 50 recorded Texas Historical Landmark homes and sites. The streets of San Augustine were walked by the likes of Sam Houston, Davey Crockett and almost every other major figure during the birth of our great State. Half way between Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn San Augustine welcomes anglers as the gateway to the great lakes of the south, 300,000 acres of bass fishing heaven.
